Community Events

Team Mean Machine can be found at numerous events throughout the year demonstrating FRC Robotics and engaging the community in STEM principles. A brief description and location of each of the public demonstrations can be found below. Specific dates are available on event coordinators’ websites.

Easter Egg Hunt: For multiple years, 2471 has used a catapult bot to launch and subsequently scatter easter eggs across Crown Park for the annual Easter Egg Hunt put on by the City of Camas. This event is a great opportunity to see a non-competition 2471 robot in action!

Location: 120 NE 17th Ave, Camas, WA 98607

Hockinson Fun Days: 2471 participates in this annual focal point of the Hockinson community by driving its most recent competition robot with the parade. A booth with active members ready to answer questions is also available during the event.

Location: 17912 NE 159th St, Brush Prairie, WA 98606

CAMTown Youth Festival: This entire event is focused towards the young youth of Camas. A variety of entertainment is available for the entire day, including 2471’s booth. See the most recent competition robot in action and talk to active members about STEM and their experience in FRC Robotics.

Location: 120 NE 17th Ave, Camas, WA 98607

Recycle Arts Festival: 2471 demonstrates its robot to the host of artists that attend this event and the community members that come out en mass to enjoy the pleasant summer sun. As with any other event, visitors to our pit can explore demos of various robot parts and business documentation.

Location: 605 Esther st, Vancouver, WA 98660

Camas Days: This is one of the biggest events the team attends. We show off the robot with demos and let visitors to our booth drive the most recent competition robot. There’s also a parade in which the team drives the robot in and interacts with the audience. If you like fun and sun in the month of June, come on down!

Location: NE 4th Ave, Camas, WA 98607

Roboblast(Clark County Fair): 2471 and other FRC teams native to Clark County display their robots in a mock mini competition. This takes place during the Clark County Fair, and allows us to present our creations to the greater Clark County Area.

Location: 17402 NE Delfel Rd, Ridgefield, WA 98642

Mini Maker Faire: This conglomerate event sees a variety of tinkerers come together to showcase their creations. We display our most recent competition robot and teach the public about our home-made CNC router and powder coat oven.

Location: 1945 SE Water Ave, Portland, OR 97214

New Student Open House: At the beginning of every school year, we offer an opportunity for interested students to check out our base of operations. We offer a presentation on how our team functions as a whole, and offer tours of our shop. If you’re interested in checking out the team, this event is highly recommended.
